There's another thread about this same thing - it must be more than just me having this happen every time I post pictures!

Maybe a picture of a squirrel playing a harmonica will make you feel better?

Thanks TF, that did work great!  I dunno, something somewhere must've changed.  But now it really doesn't matter.  Thanks for the tip.Yes

Every photo  that I have ever posted here, must be a considerable number that, was posted by chosing IMG (copy) and then simply "pasted" into my message.  The high-lighted, under-lined text that appears now never happened before the reboot, at least for me.  Something is different.

Not sure what has happened your end Tex, but i know it started a few years back after PB had a change.

Texgunner,

I certainly am no expert, but since it is fresh in my mind I will offer up what worked for me, in case it helps you.

IF you are still using Photobucket, log in to your account, then go to settings. Once in settings, click on the Albums tab. From there, go down the Links options on the left-hand side of the page and check the Direct Link box if it is not checked. Click Save toward the bottom of the screen.

Go to the album or photo collection in Photobucket you want to post from. Hover your cursor over the photo you want to post, click share, then click in the Direct box to copy the link. In the reply window or create post window in the FSM forums, click Insert/Edit image (mountain range-looking button), then paste in the Source box within the pop-up window. Click ok.

The photo should now appear in your post creation window without affecting adjacent text with the blue underlined hyper-linking.

Maybe Photobucket changed something, or the FSM forums changed something that made it more difficult for you to post photos. Since I'm fairly new I really haven't much basis for comparison, but the foregoing is what worked for me. I hope it helps.

Glad you have it sorted guys. Useing the IMG option was recomended by some as an easy option a few years ago after PB had a re-vamp. But i didn't like it for the reasons you guys have found. A lot of people don't seem to worried about it.

Okay, how about now?

Edit: YES! Got it! Thanks for the help all! I found the Direct option in my account settings in Photobucket, for any who having the same issue as me.

This has been happening for a long time, lng before the last upgrade. When taking your link from PB, use the Direct option not the IMG option. Then use the insert image option on the FSM reply page rather than posting the link directly.

Thanks again for the replies, all.

Now, I've the sneaking suspicion I'm going to feel silly when I get this sorted out, but Bish, how do I find/use the Direct option, as opposed to the IMG option? Would this be on the PB site (I couldn't find any Direct option on the reply window on FS forum)? I tried the Insert/edit image button in the reply window, but I keep getting a generic icon as below:

  " alt="" />

Does it work?

Edit: Yes, it does! Thanks again, Bish!

And that was what I was looking for! Thanks, Bish! I knew I was adding the pictures incorrectly. The underlines didn't bother me, but I knew I would eventually find the correct process.

Think you identified the problem. Don't use the insert link button, use the insert image button, the one that looks like a mountain landscape.

Hi guys, thanks for all the replies.

Texgunner, I am using Photobucket at the moment, but I am open to suggestions. I have used Photobucket several years ago on different forums with no such issues, but I haven't used it until the last few months on this forum.

The way I am using it is, with the post creation window open, I mouse over the picture in Photobucket I want to post, click share, and click on the url to copy. I then click on the "Insert/edit link" button (the chain-looking one), and paste the link. That has been the only way I can get my photos to post on this forum. Unfortunately, the text following the photo ends up being hyper-linked as well, and this seems to happen whether I type the text first, then insert the photo, or whether I insert the photo and then type the text.

I have thus far been unable to find a tool, button or whatever to turn off the hyper-linking of the affected text.

I think I may just post the photos of my completed project, then worry about fixing the issue, if I can, for subsequent posts. I will continue to monitor this thread for any help the community can provide! Big Smile

I use Photobucket and never have any problems there.  The text issue here just started, for me anyway, after the FSM reboot.

I don't notice any problem with Imageshack. The cost $14 a year, but I get unlimited storage, no pop ups and no adware. On occasion they will have problems or upgrades like any other site, but will get back up soon and are very responsive to your inquiries.

Texgunner

I've experienced the same thing.   This started after the forum retooling.

I'm experiencing this too, however, it has happened to me since I first created an account here at FSM. I am using Photobucket, and I'm looking to move away from them.

Hi GMorrison,

Yes, I'm referring to text following photos.

I normally insert the link, then after the last character or bracket in the code, I will hit enter and type the text.

I have tried typing the text first, then inserting the photo, but I usually get the same blue text.

I looked for a way to turn off the hyper-link in the tools/buttons above the text window when creating a post, but I don't recall finding one.

I will try another test post and make another effort to look for a link tool to turn off.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Text following photos?

Are you typing "return" following the photo?

I suppose another thing to try would be highlighting the text and turning the link tool on/off a couple of times.

Getting blue, hyper-linked text when posting pictures
Posted by TempusFugit on Thursday, January 21, 2016 6:16 PM

Hello all,

I found out how to post pictures on the FSM Forums, but when I do, the text adjacent to the pictures is usually blue, and hyper-linked to one of the photos I'm posting. I'm not sure if it annoys anyone else, but it does bother me a little.

So, here are my questions: what am I doing wrong? How do I post a photo or series of photos, have text to go along with the photos, and NOT have said text be hyper-linked?

I have pictures of a completed project I would like to post, but I'd really rather not do so with the blue hyper-linked text.

I tried to search for posts about similar problems, but I didn't find what I was looking for.

Thanks in advance for any help. Big Smile
