I've given the new board a fair shake.

But I find I'm not warming to it at all. I have a few complaints that are petty in the big picture.
But there is one glaring problem going on that I can't stand and because of it I'm getting frustrated with the board and have started to avoid it at times. And it's how long it takes pages to load.
The home page loads up fine but when I go to an individual topic the thing creeps. I find myself keeping another tab open so I'll have something to do elsewhere while I wait for the pages to load. Once the topic page loads the threads themselves seem to load even slower, to the point of locking up the browser. For about 15-30 seconds the browser will lock and I can't even close it. It just sits there doing whatever the site is asking it to for what seems like forever. Finally the thing will finish and work again until I have to use the "back" button to go back to the topic to choose another thread. This works fine but when I choose another thread the waiting starts again.

I used to be able to come here and blast through all the different topics I like to watch rather quickly unless I got involved with responding to or reading a thread in depth. But now it takes me fifteen or twenty minutes to do what I used to be able to do five and I hate to come here. This was once the first place I came to when I came online, now it's the last.

Is there a way to speed things up?

Do you have dial-up? Cuz it's really not slow on hi-speed internet.

I find it slightly slower, but not enough to be of concern although I am getting more server errors that previously.

What browser are you using?

I'm getting a good number of errors just going to genre pages, let alone opening up individual threads. I've had more errors just this month that the past several years combined.

Navigation isn't as easy as before, lots of errors and additional steps to do to get back to the post you were reading and elected to comment on.

I know upgrading to a better forum management package was something FSM had to do, but this particular setup isn't working for many. I too find it frustrating at times. What took me 30 minutes to do each morning now takes me longer. Guess that means my morning read will just require two cups of coffee.

I will say that I do visit more threads that I probably otherwise wouldn't have with the new "active forums" screen.

2 gripes that I have.........

1. When viewing a thread in the "active" threads section, you have no idea where that thread was posted. Someone made a thread in the aircraft section about "how much would you spend for a kit?". I jumped in and talked about how much kits can be with additional tracks, barrels, etc (armor), and sort-of made an a** of myself. I didn't know the thread was in the aircraft section.

2. No scrollover. Sometimes I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT A THREAD IS ABOUT so I have to click on it, only to simply leave right away after seeing what it's about. With most any vBulletin forums if you simply hold the cursor over a thread (without clicking it), the first 2 sentences will appearso you can see what it's about without having to enter the thread. It speeds things up IMMENSELY!
