This is gonna take some getting used to, Tim.. Gonna have to re-learn how to post... I don't see any 'quote' functions, or do I have to use the typed commands?

Hi Hans,

Yeah, there are some changes to the look and feel. If you want to quote, go to the link next to the Reply button that says "use rich formatting." That will give you the full-featured text box you're used to, including a button for quoting.

Still shaking out, but so far, so good, I like the look.

Ah, thanks, Tim!  Works like a charm!

I'm in IT myself, so I know what a pain upgrades can be.  To anyone who tells me, "Nothing can go wrong," I reply, "Jurassic Park".

I can't see how you edit a post threar title to reflect an update or change in the thread ? am I missing it ??

Click on the edit-function, the little "pencil" at the bottom of the post.. Then edit the title same as always..

One thing that has appeared to change is that you can no longer edit the title at the top of your reply.. Only the thread that you start..

Can't update a title unless you go to the first post you made in your thread, I think..

That is correct. Use the pencil at the bottom of the initial post and you should be able to change the thread's title.

Change is generally good, but sometimes status-quo is better. Wink

I see they killed the posts numbers and gave us badges. That should create some drama.

Hold the cursor over the badges if you want to see post-count, Eric..

Actually, the post counts will be back. The Forum is currently indexing counts, so they won't show up until sometime tomorrow, most likely. With something like 1.4 million posts on the Forum, it takes a while to index everything.

Wish I had more time to play with the new stuff.. Oh, well..  Hopefully, most folks will try to figure the new stuff out before they holler too much about it..

Gotta go..

My old FSM link took me to a page of latest post from all subjects;

http://cs.finescale.com/FSMCS/forums/TopicsActive.aspx?ForumID=

I've had a quick scout about, but cant seem to find the new version of this page - any ideas?

Thanks.

I too do not have time to look around but one thing that stands out is, the current logged on user link is missing as well as the user search.  Maybe I am just blind.  I will take a better look tonight after work.  Other than that I think the new layout looks pretty clean.

OK, not be be a whiner, but I don't like there being an extra step in the process to include quotes. I know, I know... that's a minor complaint and I'll get used to it.

I have not had a chance to see what else has changed yet so I'll let you know my feelings as I stumble across them! Wink

OK, so a comment and a question:

First the comment, relative to the above quote - again it seems like you've replaced something relatively simple with an added layer of complexity. Is there an added benefit?

Now the question (technically a second question): when I typed this reply, I did not want to include the entire quote from both Echo139er and Tim, but I can't seem to be able to edit the portions of the quotes that I include. Is there any way to edit quotes or are you stuck with the whole thing?

Ooops, one other comment - how do I change my settings so that "EMail me replies to this post" is NOT the default setting?

PS Where'd all my post go? It says I've got 3300 but I used to have closer to 5 grand...

PPS Ooops, didn't see the other thread on that. So what you are telling me is I had something like 2000 posts in Odds and Ends? :-)

Apparently some threads were removed and any posts in those are off your count. I am down just over 100. Seems others have lost a few more.

I asked this in the thread in the armour forum, but i think it should really be here. Whats the deal with the stars/medals. It seems we all have 5 in two different colours, not sure how they relkate to post count.

And how come we have lost peoples locations next to their avatr. It can be really useful if you knwo where someone is.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so
