More log on issues
Posted by modelcrazy on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 10:10 AM

All of my devices are having problems. I have cleared my cache, used diffrent engines and have done everything enyone has suggested. Now if I get on and try to get on a thread I get this.

"Sorry, there was a problem with your last request!

Either the site is offline or an unhandled error occurred. We apologize and have logged the error. Please try your request again or if you know who your site administrator is let them know too."

I'm at my wits end here, the only way to get this accross is to make a new post which the system lets me do.

I won't be able to respond through the normal ways until this is resolved, so I guess this has locked me out. I can't even read a post without getting this error on all of my devices. I may be able to get IM's but don't even know that.

Anyone who is on one of my GB's, sorry. Until this is resolved......

Steve

Yesterday I couldn't open any of the links in "Latest Posts" on this web site and the Scale Auto website. These web sites seem to be working okay now.

Get this, yesterday I tried to make a post on the Fine Scale Model Facebook site regarding the problems with the FSM web site. My post disappeared after I posted it????

I understand that the programs for websites needs to be updated now and then. HOWEVER, it would be nice if FSM would provide us with a notice prior to updating their software so that we would know what is going on.

Your comments and questions are always welcome.

I had the same thing happen to me with viewing and replying to threads. At least the login issues I was having on my laptop are gone. Big Smile

FSM-

Read only in Chrome.

Login works in Firefox. Not my preffered browser.

iPhone cannot open your site.

I tried to report it, too, but got the error when I tried to save my post.

I tried to PM Elizabeth, and got the error when I tried to send it.

I ended up pinging FSM via a message to their Facebook page (not a post, a PM).

It was weird because the error didn't occur on every action, only on some.

yep, last night i got the same error on iphone safari and macbook safari and firefox.  The big error message at the top of this thread and also, when i logged on it took until i choose a thread they said i had to login as it then showed me logged out.  Just now, i logged in, choose forums and a thread and it kicked me out.  I then had to log back in, got to forums, then my discussions and it worked in order to allow mw to do this.

I have not tried a new post yet.

Sent email re: error last night.

Keep on modeling!

All the best,

William

That would be nice. That is a little something called customer service. Zip it!

These issues may not have anything to do with specific updates FSM/Kalmbach have made to the websites.  They may be issues stemming from updates made to browsers, and now website developers need to make adjustments to their code.  In that case, there's no heads-up a site's admins can give the users, until the admins are made aware of the issue.

I am prone to forgetting this sometimes. Thanks for the reminder, Brad.

Very true. It could be that as well, and good that you mentioned it. However, somehow, many other websites continue to function when updates are pushed through.

I guess if I am to complain, it is that this website fumbles on an ongoing basis. In fact. I have not experienced these kinds of ongoing issues anywhere else, ever. Heck. I still don't get subscribed emails, and that problem goes back to I think it was January. Working in customer service, I just can't understand how a company can allow their product to fumble like this, for so long.

I hope they can regroup and fix all this. This is not good for their business.

I work in application development, as a tester.  I test new features that our developers write, and bug fixes.  I've also worked as an application support person, too.  When you look at development across operating systems and browsers, it's like an arms race, in that a change to one means that the others have to make changes to keep up.  When mobile devices became more common, that added another layer of complexity to the equation.  Often it's not possible to anticipate all of the possible effects, so it always seems as though you play catch-up.  And then add to this, that any good business tries to take into account what its customers want, and that drives development, too.

Of course, looking at it positively, it means that people in my line of work have a little bit of job security.

Glad others are ok, I cannot log in without going through a bunch of steps including changing my password and then logging in with an old password.  I'm bombarded with friggen pop-ups that lock me up and twice sent my virus scanner into full defence mode.

I subscribe to FSM, therefore need to come onto this site to reap some of the extra benefits, but if they don't do something real soon, like in the next week, to make this site user friendy for Chrome, Edge, and Firefox, all three BTW I have tried with odd results, I am going to cease being a subscriber.  Its just not worth the hassle. I want to spend my time modeling, not website hacking.

I can't login anywhere except on Firefox, which is horrible because I have to reset my ad blockers to switch from Chrome to FF and back.

I am sick of looking at girls in DD cups pop up from all sides.

Very mad at FSM right now.

Guys,

The editorial staff is aware of the problems encountered by many of you and we have passed thse concerens on to Kalmbach's IT department. I wish I could tell you it would be fixed in the next 30 minutes, but I can't. It is beyond our control and has affected us as well. All I can ask for is your patience as we all wait for a resolution.

Cheers, Aaron

That is really strange. I can login using MS Edge and Apple Safari without any problems.

I can log in through Edge now, but still not through Chrome unless I deactivate my firewall, which explains why I am flooded with pop-ups in Chrome and not in Edge.
