I Can't Log Out
Posted by murph on Sunday, July 26, 2020 8:08 PM

Murphy's Law strikes again.

Most people are having issues trying to log into the site / forums.  But not me...noooo.

When I go to the home page, it doesn't look like I'm logged in.  At the top of the page my options are login or register.

When I click on the Community hyperlink and go to the forums, at the top of the page I see Welcome back, and underneath that LOGOUT | Update Account.  No matter how many times I selecte log out, nothing happens.  I can't log out.

Anyone else have this issue?

I've noticed it as well. Same thing is happening at SA too. I deleted the cookies just for Fine Scale and it logged me out after I refreshed the page.

I'll give it a whirl.  Thanks very much for taking the time to reply.

I haven't tried logging out, but I do see what you describe at the top of the page.  My username doesn't show after "Welcome back,".

There is an ongoing issue with this website, stored cookies, and how the site behaves in various browsers.

It is a good idea to clear your browser cache as a matter of routine, but to this specific issue with Kalmbach's websites and access, it's the workaround, till their support people or website developers figure out what the problem is.

I just tried the logout function and duplicated what you described.

From using the Inspect Element feature in the browser, I saw error and warning messages that suggest the ongoing issue is related to handling secure and non-secure content. It happens from time to time, as development is always in progress on browsers, languages, and websites.  They never sit still.

Assuming I'm reading the release calendar correctly, and there haven't been any delays, Firefox should be rolling out and update to version 79 within the next few days. I read that on the Mozilla developers site last week, no sooner do the website developers find a fix for something they'll be dealing with another browser update. It never ends!

I too was unable to logout.  I cleared browser history and cache, (running CCleaner) then the page displayed me as logged out.

Firefox 79.0 is out now.  It includes a fix for security issues:

I'm watching to see what impact this has on sites I visit, and on the applications my company develops.  I test software for a living.
