Bill I have to agree... (although not by choice, I use IE for many things) the open source community (Firefox, Mozilla, Linux etc...) has a LOT to offer the general public...  I think a lot are afraid to break away from the mainstrem... or are like me and are hobbled to it... (For now......)

All the major PC and Server mfgr's <Dell, IBM, HP etc...) are touting the open source thing now... what would make you buy a $20,000 server faster????  if you didnt have to pay $6,000+ in licensing on the NOS and user licensing fees!  Linux is free for the most part!!!

Excellent! And another user off IE, even more excellent!

If you use Outlook Express, check out Thunderbird, also at www.mozilla.org.

So long folks!

Thanks but I tried that and no good. I have mine set on "largest".

I'm using IE and Windows. Could that be a problem??

Could be, but you shouldn't be having this problem. You could always download Firefox, I am having very few issues with the new forum. It's free, and frankly I prefer it to IE. It has tabbed browsing, which opens links in a tab rather then a new window. It has a slew of other features, as well.

Thanks!! Firefox fixed it the problem!! I can read everything perfectly now.

David-
Thanks for the work.  The resizing of images is great and has made a huge difference in viewing on my end! Thumbs Up [tup]

David,

Is there a problem with the size of the letters/words on the forum? I can't read any of it! I don't know if it is a problem with my computer or with the new forum. Everything was fine on the old forum.

It's difficult to read the forums while holding a magnifying glass!

I need some help with this............big time!

Gotta agree here. That issue alone kept me away from the "old" FSM web board. Keep it up guys. Looking better every day. Thumbs Up [tup]

I've noticed that it is draggable in Firefox.  Has it been working for everyone?

Tall vertical images are now also clickable.  It never worked for those types of images in the old forum.  Here's an example of where it's working.

Thank you for the option to turn off signatures and avatars ... maybe it'll make some small diference with my dial-up connection at home.

Thanks Dave. You're doing a lot to help us shape the forum into what we want it to be. I'm sure it is frustrating work, but much appreciated.

Nov 15, 2005 Forum Update
Posted by David Voss on Tuesday, November 15, 2005 5:39 PM
A quick update to the forum. Smile [:)]

Nov 15, 2005 Update

  • Fixed dynamic resizing of images via javascript - Works similar to the old forums, except I couldn't seem to make it draggable for Firefox like it used to.
  • Added option to disable signatures - If you don't want to see signatures in the forum, you can turn them off by updating your profile.  Update Profile > Site Options.
  • Added option to disable avatars - If you don't want to see avatars in the forum, you can turn them off by updating your profile.  Update Profile > Site Options.
  • Added width/height control to signatures - Signatures will now be limited to 200px in height (ref: Guidelines for the use of image files in signature lines.).
  • Miscellaneous
    • Removed Online Status icon (the little globe) - too buggy.
    • Enabled the activity ranking (bubbles) - more a curiousity atm, it's not the same as the old ranking system.
A note about images in signatures.  I decided against dynamically resizing images in the signature.  Since these images are displayed anywhere, I would prefer to see those images resized permanently to fit.  Be courteous to those who don't have broadband and save yourself (or your host) some bandwidth.  Smile [:)]

There are a couple of issues such as account merges, creating an active topics page like we used to have (posts since last visit), font sizes, and others that I'm still working on.  We're already committed to a couple of other big projects for Kalmbach, so I'm working on updates when I can.

Thank you for your continued patience and understanding.
