Hello, my real name is Richard. I never had time to get very involved with these forums before Hurricane Rita smacked me. I have spent the best part of the last 3 years doing some full scale modeling to rebuild our home here in SW Louisiana. I'm finally finished with the house and am ready to relax with some model building.
I was once heavily involved with model railroading and became proficient enough to sell models at train shows specializing in intermodal equipment. At one time and perhaps still I built more J.B. Hunt tractor trailer rigs in 1/87 scale than anyone in the country. As I aged the scale became too small for my eyes.
I spent four years in the United States Navy achieving the rank of GMG2 serving aboard the USS Coral Sea CVA43 and the USS Hermitage LSD34. I served on both coasts and had the good fortune to see many of the ships now offered in model form. I like building ships and automobiles because they are what I know. I don't know beans about a tank or a jet. I like to think I understand diorama building because that is all a high quality model railroad layout is.
Personal data is I am 63 and retired. Other hobbies include cooking, reading and watching movies. I hope I can bring something of value to this site on occasion and I really appreciate everyone who shares their experience and knowlege with others.
