Hello From Colorado !
Posted by Panzer_Blitz on Thursday, September 25, 2008 7:25 PM

Well, I just opened a forum question in Armor this morning and have some great answers already !....So I thought I would introduce myself....some what anyway.

I've been modeling like most of you guys since I was in grade school starting with cars, airplanes, and a few military models. then my brother introduced me to model railroading back in the early 70's and I've been hooked on that ever since....even did it professionally for about 10 years, mostly in HO and HOn3.

About 6 months ago I became interested in military modeling again and now it's another one of my passions !! My main interest right now is in WWII German armor and figures and I'm trying to rebuild my military collection which was over 300 models at one time ! But now I can definitely say that after modeling highly detailed models in HOn3 for a living, I can build ANYTHING with confidence.

I have written articles for a couple web sites on weathering, and building train models and I'm hoping to do the same with German armor/figures through this forum. This is actually the first forum I've joined and I'm looking forward to becoming involved with all of you, and maybe offering some good advice and handy tips now and then.....AND getting some back from some of the fantastic modelers here !!

This will be right around my 40th year in building models...give or take a few years....WOW..THAT LONG !!!

Anyway, good luck with all your projects and I look forward to showing you all some of my work, and from what I've seen on here already, I'm in great company !!

Happy Modeling !

Jerry

Hiya Jerry, and Sign - Welcome [#welcome]

Speaking as one of the novices here, an expert on weathering is ALWAYS an asset here. Glad you're here!

Warmest regards,

Roger

Thanks DesertRat

I'm no military expert by any means, but I do know A LOT about modeling and weathering...even though I don't consider myself an expert, I'm learning new things almost everyday... right along with the rest of you.

If I can ever be of any help, please don't hesitate to ask........Happy Modeling !!!

Sign - Welcome [#welcome] Panzer_Blitz! Sign - Ditto [#ditto]'s to the above. I hope for your sake that they never produce a 1/35th scale railroad to haul your armor! You'll go broke!Laugh [(-D]

Thanks namrednef.....no kidding about the 1/35 RR stuff, but it sure would be cool. On the other hand, if I could produce some good flat cars in 1/35 they would probably pay for most of my models !!

Welcome to the Forum Panzer_Blitz. What part of my old Home State are you residing in ? I also use to model HOn3 , but dissasembled my layout and have been thinning out the 'Narrow Gauge" collection for several yrs. I never really liked running trains, just the modeling aspect and scenery building.  I much more enjoy modeling aircraft , armor and an ocassional ship and auto. This is a Great Group to belong to as these guys know their stuff if you ever need answers to your questions, which you have discovered.

Thanks Summit. I'm in Salida, CO and really enjoying this great fall weather this year...Where did you live ? AND, anything left of your HOn3 collection ? I'm more into the building aspect of the hobby as well....no room for a layout so running trains has not been an option...one day ! Let me know if you would like to see some of my work and I'll be glad to send a couple pics.
