Welcome Badger !

I'm new to this forum too and also live in Colo....Salida

A 16-18 ft ship model ????.... guess you will need a lake like Turquoise to float the thing ! Anyway, good luck with it and hope to see some pic's on here while your building it.

We did some camping this year at Twin Lakes, Turquoise and Cache Creek and had a great time ...caught some nice trout too!

Again, welcome !!

Thanks guys!  Nothing for pics as right now I'm gathing materials.  I've seen what others have done, and to me that just isn't quality, know what I mean?  I think this will take me quite a while.

Hello
Posted by Badger on Sunday, September 28, 2008 10:12 AM

Hello!  I'm new to this forum, but not new to scratch building.  Used to do it a lot when I was younger, now (fortunately? unfortunately? I dunno) I am disabled and have a lot of time on my hands.  So I'm getting back into scratch building.  I did a Google and found this place.

I have done a lot of smaller models, and now I'm working on what was my dream as a kid- a warship.

Warships really aren't that hard, but this one will be- it's gonna be 16-18 feet long.  Wasn't lucky enough to serve in the Navy, had to make do with a short stint in the army.  So now here I am, nearly 40, and dang it I want my own navy!  lol!  Well, I doubt it's my own navy, but I want my own "ship" I can ride around in!

Right now I live in Colorado.  Leadville to be precise.  Have a few lakes near by I can use- the biggest is Twin Lakes (15 miles away), then Turquoise (and it's the closest at 3 1/2 miles) and then Clear Creek Res.which is 22 miles away.
