Typical story, loved modeling as a kid..

..and then joined the Navy, got married, eventually had a kid and other interests. I know I built at least one model in the years when my son was growing up (43 Richard Petty car after he retired) and helped my son with one or two  builds, but he was never really "into" it. Too many other distractions - PlayStation's, ATV's, motorcycles, eventually girls. In an odd way, he got me back though. I bought him a gift subscription to Car Craft, and although I don't remember ordering it, I starting recieving it too. Which led he and I to discuss project cars, and then I realized I really DO NOT need another full-size project, but bulding it scale would be fun. Next thing you know I've bought a NOS '64 Chevy C10 kit off E-bay.

But wait, it's been close to 30 years since I've done serious modeling. Maybe I should do another model first. But none of the cars I see really grab my attention. I almost ordered a '64 Lincoln off the web, but decided I really wanted to jet up to my LHS (Bridgetown Hobbies in Portland, OR) after work and see what they had on the shelf. Oh, I should mention that my local library has Fine Scale Modeer (but not Scale Auto for some reason) and I have been reading back issues for the last week or so. Anyway, I "only" spent about $40 and came home with a Tamiya M151A2 kit w/M416 trailer, a handfull of acrilyc paint, and a few brushes. I'd picked up solvent glue at another LHS the day before (Vic's Hobby Supply).

I just got started last night, and boy do I have questions! I'll post those over in the Armor forum. The important part is that I was having fun. Sure, I really need to get a magnifier/lamp combo as my eyes aren't what they were in the 70's, and I'm not too sure about this new fangled acrylic paint, but I'm sure all that will come with time.
