I am so glad you walked down that isle and found the magnifier- and opening up a world of scale modeling again!  I look forward to seeing you in the Aircraft forum. Thumbs Up [tup]

I have been working on an an old Monogram Me 262 I had stashed. I figured I would use a low dollar kit to get started again. I had a true details PE set and have picked up a set of thier resin wheel/tires. I have added a little scratch built detail in the wheel wheel area. I'll post some pics in the aircraft forum when I get a little further. I appreciate the warm welcome and look forward to sharing in the modeling adventure.

Sign - Welcome [#welcome] back Bill! It's a great hobby. I've been at it since I was 10! I know what you mean about the vision. Now that I'm in my forties I'm starting to realize I need one of those magnifing visors to see the small detailsSigh [sigh]. Can't wait to see your stuff!

Back to the hobby

Hi All,

I have just returned to the hobby after many years of R/C building and flying. I have tried to keep up with what was going on in the Hobby by reading Fine Scale Modeler. I have wanted to get back to scale model building but time has been pretty thin rasing a family and being pretty active in the other hobby.

About 10-11 months ago I was hit with diabetic neropathy and my vision got too fuzzy for me to enjoy flying.  I moped a bit about it for a while but by chance my wife talked me into going to Hobby Lobby a couple of months ago. I found the plastic section and thought it would be nice to get back into building. Then I thought, heck I won't be able to see the details...scratch that idea. I went to go find the wife and took an isle that happened to have the Ott lite display. The magnifier lite was on and I pulled it down and looked at the back of my hand.....WOW I can see!!  I went back to the model isle and picked up a AM B-25B and picked up an Ott lite/magnifer. Between the magnifier/lite and another magnifier that attach to my glasses I can see the texture in brushed on paint. I am stoked to be able to build and have an outlet.  I have been reading and learning all I can. Things are so changed from 25 years ago....haha most things are! Well I have rambled on enough but.......

Hi my name is Bill and I am a modeler again!
