Yes welcome, my grandmother came from your nieghborhood after ww1. I still hear stories about Poland from her. She can't remember yesterday but she can tell every detail of the German soldiers that stole her chickens 90 years ago...strange!!

Welcome, Dirk!

Your english is fine, we can at least get the idea of what you're trying to say. This is a good place to practice, too.

I speak/ write German, probably about as well as your english... Woraus in Deutschland kommst du?

I think it was your grandgrand father, my Oma told me so !!!! Just thought I'd share a bit of family history, My grandfather(OPA) was German as well. On the other side of the family we have Scotland and S"v"eden. My great grandfather was captured in Germany during WW1, he escaped and got a uniform (not in a nice way!!!) and made back to American lines. Here are some of his "trophies".

The helmet says "COLBERG 1802" AND THE CROSS (ONE SIDE) "FW  1813" THE OTHER "1914"  and the Luger is WW1 also.

Are you, by chance a fan of the best band in the world "HELLOWEEN"?
