Just signed up...Lots of pics
Posted by JWalker on Friday, February 20, 2009 3:07 AM
Hello, I just joined and thought Id share with everyone some of my recent works

My name is James and I'm new to FS forums but not to model building. Until now I havent shown any of my work except to family and friends and this is the first modeling forum I've signed onto. Ive been at it since age 5 so that puts me at around 25 years of modeling give or take. I live in Carlsbad, CA but i was born in Sacramento and spent most of my youth there. I also am half Greek and so have spent many a summer there as well. I mostly model 1/48 WW2 aircraft but Ive built everything under the sun as far as subject matter and scale is concerned. From Sci-fi to Modern military, Aviation to Armor, Automobiles to Railroad I love building and so I thought Id share some pics of my recent works. Hope you enjoy.

This is a Revell's Bf-110 G2-R3 with Verlinden update and various figures Ive arranged from ICM Tamiya and Hasegawa. Also shown is a Tamiya Kubelwagon and Verlinden flak 38A

Trumpeter P-40 Kittyhawk II This model was underpainted Dark Green and Dark Earth then overpainted with the middlestone/Earth/Azure scheme as I read that some arrrived in Africa in the Green/Brown scheme and were repainted in the field.

Tamiya's Spitfire VB Trop modeled after the 336th Sq. which was a division of the RAF made up of Greek pilots which later became a unit of the Royal Hellenic AF toward the end of WW2. Its not evident if VBs had the RHAF roundels or if they kept the RAF insiginias until the delivery of VC models, but I havent found much evidence that suggests VBs werent reissued and repainted in this fashion. Features scratch built cockpit details and quickboost Exhaust nozzles. The Tail number is my Bday :) />
Tamiya's P-47D Thunderbolt with ICM pilot and figures and Hasegawa "Follow Me" Jeep + figures

Accurate Miniatures' Yak1B and ICM Figures

Trumpeter's Mig-3 early version. Hand painted "Za Rodinu" Scratch built primers for the Cannons and scratch built canopy glass (after cracking the original in half DOH!)Also features ICM crew and Warriors pilot figure

Tamiya's BF109 E trop with Verlinden ground crew + Tamiya's Kubelwagon and figures

Tamiya's Fletcher class destroyer with drilled portholes, Gold Medal Models photo-etch detail set and a small flight of Trumpeter 1/350 Corsairs

Tamiya's 1/350 USS Missouri

Tamiya's 1/16 MG42 Gunner and MG loader w Tripod

Sign - Welcome [#welcome] to the forums James!  That is quite a collection of models, and very well done to boot.  Dioramas are quite nice as well.  You might get more feedback if you post them in the aircraft, diorama, figure, and ship sections.  Thanks for sharing the photos, very nice work. Hey JWalker, welcome to the FSM Forums. I love that P-40B of yours, and the Spitfire, the P-47 is.....ah hell they are all great!!!

Aircraft don't seem to appear in dio settings much, yours are really cool! Is that P-40B the Trumpeter 1/48 scale kit?, i might have to get that. Always liked the look of the P-40B.

Hope you enjoy yourself here, and we look foward to more models and pics.....Sign - Welcome [#welcome]

Thank you sir. And Yes the P-40 Kittyhawk II is Trumpeter's. Built OTB its a great model! I only cut off the cowl flaps and repositioned them in the open position.

Ill be posting pics soon of a 1/16 scale Dio im doing with some Verlinden figures.
