Hey,
Andrew here, 39 y/o and been modeling since about age 6 or 8 I'd say...? I build aircraft, primarily 1/48, some 1/72, props, jets WWII to modern stuff. If I had any "niche" I guess it would be with demo teams, I'm trying to build all the Blue Angel and Thunderbird aircraft in '48 scale and from there a few of the foreign team jets as well. As an occupation I'm a P-3 Orion Flight Engineer and have been in the U.S. Navy (on and off) for 18 years, all of it in aviation so I've been around aircraft pretty much all of my adult life...which is great for getting reference material! I also spent a few years in there working as a commercial mechanic on United and Fed Ex aircraft of various types, though I really have little interest in modeling airliners(???) I grew up in Boston with the "heavies" coming over my neighborhood into Logan Int. at nearly rooftop level, that must have cured me of any curiosity of commercial aircraft. I've been a FSM subscriber forever but this is the first time checking out their forum. I post on Hyperscale and ARC regularly so I guess I just never gave it a thought to come in here, I like my FSM for chilling on the couch while watching TV I suppose. So, anyway, I'll have to try and make it a point to roll inot here often enough as well then.
Current project: Hasagawa's new E-2C Hakeye 2000. I worked on these my first tour in the Navy (VAW-127 & VAW-124) and would love one in 1/48 scale! This new one is pretty awesome though.
Last completed project: Revell P-3C Orion (how many of these you think I've built?) finished it as one that I flew most of my missions on during my last deployment to the desert with VP-26 (DEC 07-JUN08) I had a guy in PA do some custom decals for me to get the tail flash.
