Wlelcome to the forums and the hobby.

I agree with Cadet Chuck. I've also been with this hobby some 40 yrs and you never stop learning and gaining experience. Stay with it. If you need advice or have any questions, the forums are a great place to come. Your sure to get lots of great tips, etc. in here. And don't forget to post pics. One of the best things about the forums is the chance to share our work with each other. Good luck

Welcome to the Forums Sign - Welcome [#welcome].  I belong to IPMS U.S.A., but the nearest local Chapter is too far away for me to join.

Welcome, Smitty!

The secret to a good paint job on anything is patience and experience.  I've been building models for 50 years and am still learning about painting and weathering!

My suggestion is to get yourself an airbrush, if you don't already have one, and practice on inexpensive kits until you get the hang of it.  Spraying lightly and using several coats is best.  I have also found that Tamiya acrylic paints work very nicely for this technique.

Good luck on the P-51!

Hey everybody I am new to the forums here and also to modeling of this sort. I built models way back when I was a kid but I did terribly as most do, but of course I was so high on the glue I didn't really care at that point, so now I am stuck with a bunch of unpainted busted up models and would like to add a good looking one to the mix after a few years of developing better patience and dexterity.

I am currently working on Academy's 1/72 scale P-51B Mustang. Its almost half way finished. I have messed up quite a fewtimes(things having to do with paint mostly). I am having a blast for the most part and looking forward to building more models in the future.

Incidentaly how many of you are involved in your local IPMS chapter?

Thanks
