Welcome to the Forums Bob .  The hobby has changed drastically in the last 45 years, but mainly for the better.  Most kits feature detail OOB that would be the envy of the best scratch builders of yore.  Aftermarket goodies, that didn't exist back then, can add to the detail, as well as the complexity & cost.

 Lots of changes over the years. One of the best changes ,not often mentioned , is the wealth of reference material easily available over the internet. Add todays well detailed OOB, PE and resin, plus scratchbuilding, the scale models built today are absolutely amazing. Glad to have an old hand back inthe hobby. Hope to see you around often.

 Don't forget to post pics of your work. That hasn't changed , we still like checking out each others work, and ideas.
