I've been a modeller & a tinkerer all my life, enjoying building something out of bits n pieces n glue into something interesting, artistic, practical & or awe-inspiring!  I stopped for a few years (kids etc) but was always interested.  I'm back into it again, this time newly intrigued by the methods modellers use to get weathering effects & the amazingly realistic results that can be achieved.  My renewed interest started one day, when I gave each of my 3 kids a handful of cash each, and took them on a train ride up to newcastle to frontline hobbies - wow they have everything!!.  After helping them all decide what they wanted, I was feeling a bit left out so I spent $22 on a 1/72 Vollmer house model for myself.  It worked out so well I installed a white LED to light up all the windows & nice simulated curtains etc.  As an electronics tech by trade, I found a circuit to turn the light on with a flickering effect identical to a fluorescent light, & then a light sensor circuit so that the light comes on after sunset.  At this point I decided to build some sort of diorama, with possible random sound effects also, & being a passionate tennis nut I have already bought a 1/72 tennis court to include in it somewhere!  I'll try to give some updates from time to time!
