I'm Back!
Posted by Dave23 on Friday, November 20, 2009 6:04 AM
Hey all, trying once again to get back into the hobby I've loved since childhood. Last hung out around these parts back in 2006. Tried to get back into modeling after a 15 year hiatus, but life did what it does best and got in the way. Hopefully I'll have a bit better luck this time around. WWII aircraft have always been my focus and passion, both full and 1/48 scale. The sound of a big radial engine still makes me beat feet outside to see what's flying over. Still have a few kits stashed away that I hope to get started on soon. Presently I'm getting my work area setup and stocked while I brush up and try to recapture skills I had and learn new ones from folks like you.

Being a resident of southeastern Oklahoma means there's not much in the way of scale model clubs or organizations for a hundred miles or more in any direction, so thank goodness for the internet and forums like this. Hope you guys don't mind if I hang out and ask a few questions here and there. My skills are far below the majority of you folks, which is a good thing for me - lots of talented folks to learn from!

Appreciate the welcome back guys. I'm off to Owasso tomorrow to visit one of my favorite hobby shops to pick up a few things I need for my first kit build since 2006. Also plan on picking up a few more kits to freshen the stash.

Finally getting my feet wet! Decided to first finish up an electric Fokker D.VII RC kit that I’ve had sitting around. Just need to finish installing servos and it’ll be ready to fly.

For my first plastic kit in more than 4 years (finished 3 kits in 2006 after a 15 year hiatus) I chose Tamiya’s Brewster B-339 Buffalo in 1:48. Just getting started as you can see. Building it strictly OOB, just to get back in the groove. Hopefully I won’t make too big of a mess. I’ll post some completed pics over in the Aircraft forum once I’m finished.
