I think I goofed up the links the first time around and they should be working now.  I just had to hunt down some info on what the proper url markup was for the forum :)

I haven't been over to the Ace in Berkeley, but a friend of mine has mentioned it, so it was on my radar.  I've been going up to the Hobbytown USA in Petaluma for most of my needs.  Thanks for the heads-up, though, I'll definitely go check out the Berkeley shop soon.

Welcome Nathan! I can't get your links to open, but I'm not a computer wiz either. Do you go to Ace Hardware in Berkeley? It's my LHS of choice. Also you'll want to connect with Dave "sf_plane_nut" who's got 1'000s of models in his house, for sale.

Hello from San Francisco

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to stop by and introduce myself.  My name is Nathan, and I am currently located in the San Francisco Bay Area.  I grew up building plastic models, took a break in high school and college, and then picked the hobby back up a little bit after getting my career going in the early 2000's.  More recently I've dived into the hobby in earnest and been doing a great deal more research into techniques and tools.

My latest project, which I'm almost through with, and which has been ongoing for roughly nine months, is a Model Shipways Armed Virginia Sloop.  This was one that I started up after deciding I wanted to try something different that would offer me a new challenge

During the day, I build models digitally (3d modeling software) for animated films, so, for me, the modeling hobby is really just giving me a chance to do more of the same, except by working with my hands, instead of with the mouse.  Anyhow, I just wanted to say 'hello' to everyone and I hope to become an active participant in the forum here.

I've got an ongoing build log on my ship model and my own web site with some of my photography and professional work, the links to which are in my signature below (hopefully, since this is my first post).
