Been modeling for about 65 years.  Never got away from it even after childhood.  Built while in AF, and when raising a family.  For many years I participated in the newsgroup rec.models.scale, but Usenet (newsgroups) seem to be dying.  I still participate but there are getting to be very few new posts each day.  So, went looking for a web-based forum area, and this FSM area seems great.

Built all genre of models. If it moves, I build it.  Kind of specialize in ships, but do a lot of planes and race cars too.  Ships take a lot longer, so my display case has fewer ships than planes or cars,  but I probably spend more time on ships.

Occasionally pick up a few bucks for a more expensive model by writing for some of the model magazines.

Welcome to the new century and the forum. The old billboard modeling sites are about dead. Too one dimensional for this hobby. This being a very visual one, one needs the ability to share images in their posts to convey or explain their thoughts. It makes it a whole lot easier.

I too used to be fairly active on rec.models.scale, but too much spam for me to enjoy it so I left.

Welcome Don, from another oldie. Started building carriers after 50 year hiatus with a vintage Revell "ESSEX" kit, just like the ESSEX when I served on her in the 60's. These web style forums are great, lots of info out there. Once in a while, even I have something to offer.
