Seeking DC-6B models....bigger than 1/72...bigger the better
Posted by RESOLUTION MAN on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 7:03 PM

Can anyone steer me in the direction of DC-6B models...plastic..die cast...wood...that are bigger than 1/72 scale ?  Wanting to "go on the lecture circuit" I would need a larger size for demo. purposes.

This request will become clearer when you check my site  www.flightoftheresolution.org...  of course any folk familiar with this disaster would be more than welcome to contact me.

Thanx for any help...RESOLUTION MAN

Why not combine 2 DC-3 models in 1/48 scale to get your DC-6. The plane pictured on your site looks a lot like a 4 engine DC-3 with a lengthened fuselage. Start with some blueprints if available from Boeing and any other research material you can find. Most helpful would be scale drawings with dimensions.

It will produce a one of a kind tribute to this rare variant of the famous DC-3 Good luck!Yes

Ditto! And I grew up less than 20 miles from the site, although I wasn't quite around then (close). But my pop was working at SFO at that time. I'll have to ask him about it.

As you probably know, Heller makes a 1/72 DC-6B that is a real jewel of an a/c model. One of my favorites. It's big, too(?) I'm going to look for a larger one for you, but I'm guessing it's going to be a one-off prop like a travel agent model or a movie prop.

I'd like to go to the site too. Maybe you can send me a personal message. Hit the "start a conversation" button at the bottom of the window to this (my) post and send me the details, if you have a sec.
