Hi, my name is Dominick. I just got back into modeling earlier this month when my son received a U-Boat model kit (Revell) for is 14th b'day. I told him that I built models when I was his age way back in '60s. I even entered contests and won many !st place ribbons with my models. I was into cars and built mainly roadsters, muscle cars, & dragsters. Monster figures, military ships & planes came later. AMT, Revell, & Monogram kits were about all there was back then so it was easy and there was no internet so you had to rely on hobby shops and department stores to find models. I built Tamiya Armor back in the early to mid '80s when I was in the Navy but quit soon after...no time for it so I dropped out.
It's 2010 now & I can't believe how many companies there are now! So many to choose from. I went to the local HobbyTown USA & picked up a Tamiya 1/35th scale French tank (B1bis Char) for my 1st attempt at getting back into it. I also picked up a Tamiya M4A3 Sherman and a Dragon Panzer IV (F2) G tank a couple of weeks later for later projects. I am currently just looking at websites (including this one) to familiarize myself with the new techniques/materials at my disposal before delving into this facinating (and addictive) hobby again. What I know about weathering techniques is primitive compared with what is used today. I have a lot to learn!
