Welcome to the site....  Not to worry about judging your work against others,, as long as you are enjoying the hobby.

Improvement comes with each new build... even if it is just a little tweak here and there. It's a learning process.

Feel free to ask questions,,   the members are very knowledgable and helpful.

The quickest way to improve is to try 1 new technique each build. Even if it is on a experimental scrap of styrene, trial and error will have you finding the skills & techniques that work for you.

Hi everyone. I've got to modelling late in life and keen to learn and improve. Seeing some of the gallery of other new joiners, boy, I've got  alot of learning and improving to do! I think I'll be looking for as much help and advice as i can get, but I'm looking forward to the journey.

Thanks to those that have replied with welcomes and comments, much appreciated and I feel very welcome. My modelling is quite tame at the moment. I'm most interested in aircraft and have put together the classic "Battle of Britain" flight (Lanc; Spitfire and Hurricane) and I've got to say for a first stab I was quite pleased with the outcome. Followed up with a Apache helo, BAC Lightning and Eurofighter typhoon, all in 1/72 as i don't have a lot of room to display. Also tried the Revell Shelby Cobra - I later saw this in the Robert Downie article in FSM "how to paint and weather scale models 2" - and delighted to say I found the same build problems.....although i didn't resolve them as nicely as he did  :-(. Following a visit to Bovington Tank Museum in the summer I've just had my first go at a tank - an M1A1 in Desert Storm USMC spec - great fun, i'll be doing more of those. I'm about to start a Mirage F1C in "tiger meet" livery - build looks simple but colourful...

Anyone know where i can get a 1/72 Lincoln bomber kit. I had an uncle in the RAF who was sadly killed in one in 1946 and I was hoping to put one together in his squadron's markings. It seems Lincolns are much rarer than Lanc kits - perhaps because too similar??? Thanks.
