Posted by wizardslovak on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 11:03 AM

HEllo and Hi

My name is luke and i am from NYC . I used to build up planes when i was still in school , and now i got little time so i am coming back to this wonderful hobby .

So far every time i tried to do an realistic model i had problems with details , that's why i decided to join this forum to learn new tricks and tips .

I mainly do aircraft , ww2 and modern era + i would love to try ship building .

My first project will be 1/48 F22 . Which one has better details? HAsegava or Revell ?

Thank you mods for this forum

cheers luke "wizardslovak"

Hi Luke.  Welcome.  I'm sure plenty of people will want to help you out with this impending project, and it might be helpful if you let us know what sort of equipment you've got to work with, (i.e. do you have an airbrush?  What sorts of glue/tools do you prefer?)

I'm afraid I don't know anything about F-22 kits in particular, but they'll all be very modern kits from major manufacturers and as such likely to be free of traumatically difficult problems.

Welcome Luke.

I am not real familiar with the F-22 kits, but typically a "Hase" kit will beat out a Revell as far as detail and extras. The Revell will usually one-up the Hase for lower price however. I would imagine either could be made into a nice replica, considering the newness of the F-22 in general.

Keep us posted on the build progress............

Enjoy the ride!

Hello Wizard,

Here in NYC (Manhattan) there is really only 1 model shop.It is on Lexington Ave and about 93rd St., and is called Jan'sHobby Shop. They have everything you need. The stuff is a bit pricey (NYC style) and sometimes the people working there seem to be not too interested, but it has all the stuff you were talking about.

Regards,

Stenscience

Sounds like a pretty good deal, Luke. If you are just starting out (with airbrushing) you might want to invest in a single action model though. Dual action are a bit more difficult to clean and can be a little temperamental to use.

Best of luck with the endeavor.......

Enjoy the ride!

Hi There

Welcome back to the hobby,

I have never stopped building models, i started when i was 8 yrs old.

I love to modify and scratch build on my kits. i have just finished converting a FW 190 d9  into a Ta 152 -H in 1/24 scale. i must be mad.

Happy building
