Hi everyone. New to the forum... Been away from modeling for many years, thinking about getting back into it. My plan was to be more specific with what I build compared to when I was a teenager and bit off more than I could chew!
A few years ago I saw that Hasegawa had released a nice set of 1/48 kits that I wanted (Spitfire, Hurricane, Typhoon). Now I see that they're no longer being made and hard to find on E-Bay. Obviously, I'm not up to speed on the current modeling scene. Has everything gone south? Looking at the Squadron website, I don't see as many choices as there was 5 years ago or so.
It would be a shame to dust off all my old tools only to find that there aren't any new kits to buy!
There are more kits being offered today than ever before! Yes Hasegawa is still releasing new kits as well. Try searching on Sprue Brothers for kits that interest you...just do your search on the subject such as Hurricane, Spitfire, Tomcat etc.
Oh by the way...Hasegawa isn't the leader anymore in quality...quantity...and selection.

to the forums.RON. I have had great results from SPUE BROTHERS great service.
Thanks for the information, guys, I'll do some more homework. Yeah, I see that Accurate Miniatures and Academy have a lot of nice kits out and they seem to be on top these days. Certainly looks like an "easier" hobby these days - I can remember all the work involved in the 1980s trying to make those awful old Airfix kits look decent when I was a kid.
Accurate Miniatures has ducked under the radar. They are having struggles during this economy. Academy has some nice offerings but you'll find the best coming from Tamiya. Their engineeings is the gold standard.
Welcome to the Forums . Hasegawa is alive & well. They reissue their popular kits on a regular basis, usually with different decals than the prior releases.

But usually they're very expensive... Hasegawa is lower in quality, but lower in price. Personally, it's the best bang for the buck (at least as far as WWII props go.) I could be wrong though, a matter of opinion.
to the forums, and back to the hobby!
As Rick said, Hasegawa is alive and well. The new distributor in the US for them is Hobbico, and if you Google "Tower Hobbies", you will find they have an enormous selection of Hasegawa kits. Great company to deal with too!
