Hello!
Posted by harrypri on Sunday, December 26, 2010 10:35 PM

Newbie here, first post... and I have a question I hope someone will be able to help me with.

I'm building the Artesania Latina "SANSON" tug, and I have question. I'm fairly new to ship building and don't have much technical knowledge... but looking at the photos in the instructions, the way the lifeboat davits are rigged looks to me like they couldn't possibly work as illustrated. I tried googling for info, and did manage to learn that these are "Welin" davits, circa late 1800s-early 1900s, but couldn't find a rigging diagram.

So... basic questions: How did these davits work? How were the lifeboats swung out over the side of the tug to be lowered? Did the davits pivot? Also, is there a diagram of the davit lines out there somewhere that I could use as a reference?

Thanks!

Welcome Harry

Unfortunately I cannot assist with your question(s)..   I would suggest flooding a few different areas [with it] and see if you can get an answer.....

Best of luck

Enjoy the ride!
