Hello from the Navy!
Posted by Mulho on Sunday, January 9, 2011 9:33 PM

Hey all, my name is Brendon and I'm in the Navy. I started modeling when I was about 13 then of course during my teen years I was on and off with modeling. Now I'm 20 and want to get back to modeling so bad, only problem is I'm in training at Pensacola and I have very limited space. I don't want to get all of my stuff from back home and add more to my stuff here to carry around but i want to model so bad. Plus I don't want to ruin my models my moving them from place to place. any ideas on what to do or if i do model, how should i transport them?

welcome to FS

that's an interesting situation.  When I was traveling for work and building models in my hotel rooms, if it got too much to carry around, then I would post mail it back home

I dunno, glad you're with us though

Brendon,

Welcome to the forums. I feel your pain...I had the same issues many years ago when I went through training. I would say that your best bet is to be paitent and wait till training is over. I know it may seem like an eternity but it will go by quick. If you really just have to do some kits, see if there is a club nearby, or maybe try the exchange and see if they have a simple kit or two to work with.

Welcome to the forums!  We are very thankful for your service. Yes Wish I can help with your situation... if it was me, I would just buy cheap kits off eBay and build them just for practice to improve my modeling skills so I will be ready to build expensive models when the training is over.
