Introduction

Good day to you all,

After searching for some pictures of a finished 1/6 SAS Desert Raider I ended up on this website.
I decided to subscribe and would like to introduce myself here.

My name is Eric Isarin, 46 years of age, from the Netherlands and a very frequent modeller. Since a few years I have picked up this hobby again after being forced to quit my job due to an illness.
Besides walking the dog and giving attention to my wife and our home, I also like to produce (electronic) music but that has become something that does not happen very often anymore.

As I've read on this forum: the urge to build is so strong that it almost turns out an obsession.
During process I am constantly thinking how to do this and that, even in my sleep.
Building plans are not always correct, the order of process is most of the time something you have to create yourself. But that is also the challenge and therefore makes this hobby a great one.

Sharing comments, critics and knowledge keeps the fire burning, so I hope to become a frequent member of this 'club', because there is still so much to learn.

And about the Desert Raider: I've just finished mine, you will find some pictures of it soon.

Regards,

Eric

All roads lead to FSM, and theres no escape. Welcome aboard. I am sure you will find all the answers to any questions, you just have to skirt round some of the madness. Look forward to seeing some pics. Did i read that right, 1/6th scale.

Thanks for this welcome Bish,

You read it right: it's a big one!
I had recently finished a 1/9th scale Revell Kubelwagen and was actually looking for a 1/16th King Tiger when I came across this Desert Raider in 1/6th scale.

I made the Tamiya 1/35th version when I was a kid after reading the book about the Phantom Major and decided to try it again in a bigger scale.

Still some things left to be done, but I think it's ready.

I have some pics, but are figuring out how to upload them.
Any suggestions? Do they have to be online already?

Thanx.

Eric

How to up load pics is a regular question on here. There is a great post on how to do it, it really needs to be a sticky. I am useless at explaining how to do it. But to start with you need a photo hosting site. Alot of people including myself use photobucket, but it is rather tempramental.

You say theres a few things left to do on the Desert raider. Would that have anything to do with getting it legal to go on the road. I am sure this would be big enough for a small person to get in a drive.

That would be something, getting it to drive...

But I think you are a bit mistaken concerning the size.
1/6th isn't that large you can sit in it.
Sitting ON it is also not to be advised, unless you want to get rid of it quickly ;-)
It is approx.50 cm in length.

Thanks for replying.

I think this link should work.

Still have some detailpainting to do, but despite the urge sometimes I have to stop myself from becoming too hasty in finishing it.

Welcome to the forums, Eric!

Exceptional work on the jeep. That's some of the best-looking weathering I've seen, low-key but very realistic. Details are also excellent--I love the draped netting.

Hope you enjoy the group here.

I will put more pics on the web soon, got a lot to show you.
