Used to be a female FSM forum member in the UK, haven't seen a post by that lady in some time.

Her most recent post was of a Revell Concorde, I believe.

Unfortunately IMHO you are in the wrong genre (Armour) to meet any women...modelers.

And entirely IMHO the armour crowd at my model club in generall smells a little!!

Now there are certainly a couple female car modelers, especially rods, and occassional ship (sailing variety) modeler.

And if you willing to expand the horizon a little bit, I've seen in figure painters and *gasp* wargaming.

OR, you may consider every female being modelers - They sure make a lot more stuff on a daily basis than men, and my personal favourite being 1/1 scale cakes.

May I say, that CallSignOwl has posted some very nice work here, and I am glad to have her aboard!  We need more young ladies here.....

I am working out the details for this as the topic and guest on my show. I have one lady volunteer lined up, looking for a second one. Want to give the ladies an opportunity to give their perspectives. Right now we're looking at June, but possibly late May as the show date.

I'll be firming up the date with the one guest who has consented to be on. If one of you ladies wants to join us, please contact me!

Hawkeye, what about doing your feature for mother's day? Not saying that all women are mothers, but it gives you relavent date. And after all, I'm sure soem nice lady out there has made something for their kids.

And I am a big fan of 1:1 scale cakes.....

Might have been a possibility to have it as the topic for the Thursday before Mother's Day had the invites been accepted in time to add it to the schedule. I am typically booking shows a month or more in advance and not everyone knows what their schedule looks like, or are just a bit reluctant to respond affirming their willingness to be on the show.

So are you interested in being a guest?

I have found that there tends to be a large number of figure painters that are female...Maybe we don't seee them as much in here because figure painting is such a small % of the overall work done on this site...

Due in part to the suggestion made here and from other sources, doing it during Mother's Day is appropriate. However, since the schedule is already booked, I'll postpone this topic till next year to coincide with the holiday....still would like to hear from potential guests though.

x2.  We used to have some female figure painters that were active in our local IPSM chapter.  One also liked to model WWI aircraft.

There was a woman up in Syracuse who regularly entered several categories and was quite a good modeler, although I can't remember her name. Quite a nice woman, and a good modeler, too. That's the only one I can remember though.

I would think that a woman wouldn't find her preferred subjects modeled much--I mean, I don't know many women interested in military planes, tanks, cars, or "guy things" like spaceships and monster figures.

One friend is an avid shooter/martial artist, another religiously follows NASCAR, one is big into gaming, and still another loves running around in army boots with the rest of her battalion. And there's me who loves planes and military stuff.

There was a Frosty when I first started here as a well as Cassibill. Don't know where they've gone.

Years ago there was a Powderpuff GB or something of the likes with a woman who built beautiful jets. Another was a bit of a knockout if you will.

Ohh I don't know about that...I saw a regiment band playing in Christchurch once that had a couple of before mentioned types of models that were to scale and had great weathering....just saying

There's a young lady that comes to most of the IPMS shows in our region who's one heck of an aircraft modeler. She showed up last year with a beautiful model of the 'Airacutie' - a P-39 with a full-length reclining female nude on the nose which one of our goofball members kept kidding her about being a 'self-portrait' until she turned beet red from half embarrassment and half from laughing so hard. Atlas she is a married woman

And yeah check some of the war-gaming and fantasy gaming sites- some of the best painters are of the fairer sex. Not to be sexist but I do believe that women have more patience and finer motor skills than guys on average.

My girlfriend is a modeler but not a member of this forum. She reads my FSM and Model Railroader Magazines. Her interest in modeling are Muscle Cars and 2nd World War warbirds. As a matter of fact we just completed a joint build together for a group build for somewhere else, subject matter, a Ju-87 one of her favorite planes. So yes they are out there.
