Welcome Sign

I, too was glad to find the forum. That was in March of 2004, I think. There's a great bunch of characters here.

I'm from the government and I'm here to help.

Occasional factual, grammatical, or spelling variations are inherent to this thesis and should not be considered as defects, as they enhance the individuality and character of this document.

Thanks, fellows - glad to find a place to share knowledge and fun. Right now I'm re-learning how to use an airbrush and I'd forgotten how much fun that can be, even with the first results looking like they were done by a caveman.

Best advice I can give anyone coming back to the hobby is - Ask questions, on here you will always get an answer and we are all learning, no matter how long we've been doing this

Welcome !

I also entered the hobby during the 1960s but stopped building kits around 1991, prior to he rise of internet shopping ,and only recently returned.

I understand your amazement at changes in the hobby.

Technology has facilitated rapid changes in kit quality and how we buy products.

If you have the chance, check the 3D printing threads for some information about how the hobby may undergo revolutionary changes in how kits are produced.

Hope you have fun here.Welcome Sign

Welcome!

I do most of my shopping online since there aren't really any nearby hobby shops here, either.

Glad you have returned to the hobby.  I started way back in the 40's with Strombecker solid wood airplane models and gradually worked up to better things and amassed a bunch of tools and materials along the way.  School and family and career interrupted my modeling for years, but now that I have retired, I'm back at it full blast.  It keeps me sane and off the streets!

You'll find a lot of friendly and helpful people here!

Howdy all -

Did a lot of modeling back in the 1960s when I was young, and briefly again when my son was in his pre-teens. He moved on to other pursuits and left a drawer filled with paints and kits we bought when a local shop went out of business. I found that drawer recently while cleaning up, and figured I'd build the kits. Well, I remembered how much I enjoyed modeling so I've set up a small workbench in my shop. It's good to be back but, boy, have things changed.

Mostly, I'm astonished at the fact there is not one hobby shop within reasonable driving distance of my home. I've had to order everything I've needed so far. Hopefully I'll discover the best sources for such things from you fellows, and can also contribute whatever I can.
