Hello. This is my first time on this board. I haven't build a model in at least 40 years. I would like to start by building 60's era classic/muscle cars. Looking forward to any advice or knowledge you care to pass on.

Hi SeaSoldier,

Welcome to the FSM Forum. We have lots of members who have returned after years off and plenty of experienced modelers here to talk to for advice. Take a look around, see what you can pick up from the years of posts already here and don't be afraid to ask questions.

Can't wait to see pics of your next build!

Tim

Welcome aboard, SeaSoldier! Always good to have another voice in the forum. Hope you enjoy getting back into the hobby.

Plenty of knowledge, advice and good ideas to be had here, as well as encouraging words. If you run into any specific issues or problems, somebody here's bound to have an answer.

I'm into '70's muscle cars myself ('71 Hemi Cuda my all-time favorite). Have you picked a first kit for your 'return' yet?

Welcome to the forums SeaSoldier! Man, 40 yrs is quite the sabbatical, but you've come back at a great point in time for the hobby. There's literally tons of stuff out there.

My first Kit purchase will be a 66 Mustang fastback. The local shop has a Revell kit and a German import Revell kit. The German kit is $10 more. I'm not familiar with the German kit though. Any advice will be appreciated. Is there a link to a list of starter gear to buy as well. I have absolutely nothing at this point. Glue, paint assortment, Xacto kit. I had no idea that people are doing bodywork, tin foil, etc. I certainly wasn't going to that extreme when I was 13.

Welcome Sign to the Forum, Seasoldier.  Good choice on the kit.  I had a '69 Mustang in the day, and currently drive a 2000 Mustang.  Great car.

Except for that one $168 speeding ticket. . . .

Glad to have you on board SeaSoldier. There seem to be a lot of people joining recently who have come back to the hobby, so your not alone.

Is it me, or has there been an increase in car/truck builders on here.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

Welcome to the Forums SeaSoldier. I build whatever strikes my fancy. Have had and worked on a few muscle cars in my day. Had a '66 GTO that I tore up the streets with until "family time" came along. Such is life. Glad to have you aboard. Post lots of pics of your builds. That will keep everyone here happy.

Welcome aboard and you will get plenty of help from the talented folks here. Scale Auto Magazine and Model Cars Magazine both have lots of good "how to" articles as well. I have a list of all those cars that I could never afford in 1:1 scale that I can own in 1:25 scale. Usually means less bloody knuckles as wellWink
