As to ABs, I'm a dedicated fan of the Badger "Anthem." It's relatively inexpensive, easy to set up and use, easy to clean, and has done pretty much everything I've ever tried to do with it. I've tried a number of brands and models over the years, and it's the least "fussy" of any airbrush I've used.
One of our forum members, a gent by the name of Don Wheeler, has an excellent site to visit if you're looking into getting any airbrush. Lots of good reviews (with pictures of what the brushes will actually do) and great tips for airbrushing in general. I think you'll find it helpful:
