Posted by modelMikey56 on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 4:39 PM
guys and girls, my name is Mike I've been modeling fans it seems like forever. Haven't built anything in 20 years but since then I've got Parkinson's which affects my right hand and for some right handed I wouldn't have it any other way lol. So looking forward to the challenge of modeling with my left hand.got a couple kids here that I can try and see how that works. It's probably not going to be the finished product but the challenge of doing it. Thanks

Welcome to the Forums Mike! My name is Jim and I am a plasticaholic. I love the smell of plastic in the mourning. I'm going to be at MosquitoCon with almost all of our club. It's always a great show with lots of vendors and raffles to make you go home with a thinner wallet. Wink Glad to have you aboard.

thanks for the welcome guys. I have a couple questions about glue.....is there a preferred brand? And what do most people apply the glue with? A toothpick a brush or?Ive been out of modeling a long time so just wonder if there's any new techniques or new glue available

There is a wide range of glue's, but a lot of guys seem to use Platic weld. Tenax used to be a popular brand in the US, but i believe thats no longer around. I assume you are in the USA, i can't recall what the most popular brand is over there.

You can use a fine old paintbrush to apply it along the joins. There is also an item called a Touch-N-Flow. I have only just bought one and not used it yet, but it gets lots of praise.

Welcome!  As far as glue goes I use an assortment of Testors liquid cement, 5 min. epoxy, Elmers glue, Walthers GOO, and your basic Crazy glue. It just depends on what you want  stuck to what.

Dont worry about the thumbprint, paint it Rust , and call it "Battle Damage"

I use Tamiya liquid glue myself and like Bish said there is that system of Touch-N-Flow. It works great. It's great for gluing fuselage halves or wing halves together. Works great. Welcome aboard buddy, Joe
