First of all welcome in here Mike. I'm just a youngster here at 44 but have found that my eyesight is going like most 40+ folks out there. Secondly it's inspiring to see somebody still after it like you because I still know (or at least hope) that I can still build 1/48 scalers at 63 (providing the good guy upstairs gives me that long!!) . If you have questions ask , if you have information, share and lastly but certainly not least is post pictures bud. Look forward to seeing the planes you build, Joe

Welcome to the forum.

Ah age the first thing to go is the eye sight  and I'll be darn if I can remember what the second thing is.

I found I had to move to larger scales to ,but in armor there's not many 1/24 or 1/16 scale kits.

Welcome ! My  skills ( dumb luck ) have NEVER let me build a bad kit !

OK ....... so I'm lying.   But I have found a "sure fire" way of fixing even the worst screw ups into amazing works of art.

FIRECRACKERS !!!!   Yea the "art" doesn't last long.

Dont worry about the thumbprint, paint it Rust , and call it "Battle Damage"

Welcome to the Forums and to the hobby Mike.! My name is Jim and I have been building all types of models for 66 of my 72 years. I'm cutting back on the 1/72 scale kits and moving up to the 1/48 scale because of eyesight and bad hands. It sometimes seems that there is a freight train running by under the workbench making my hands shake so much. I keep plugging away though. There are great guys, and gals on here that are ready, willing, and able to answer any questions or help with any problems that you may have. All you have to do is ask. There is no such thing as a dumb question. You might get some funny answers though. It goes with the territory. Sit back, relax, take a sip of your favorite beverage and start building. Welcome aboard.

Welcome to the forums!

You'll find great people here with answers to questions.

Don't worry how the models look, we love pictures.  I learn so much from looking at other people's models....I see how I could have done something, or how I might try to fix something down the road.  Sometimes I just get new ideas.

Enjoy.

Hi Folks,  63 years old and I have just gotten into model scale aircraft.  Relaxing hobby.  I have purchased around 24 models to build so for and I have found that searching for deals and buying the kits is part of the fun.  Wifey of 44 years thinks I have gone nuts.  I have purchased paint and tools enough to get started with.  Moved a small workbench into my man cave and now I am ready to go.  I purchased 17 1/72 scale planes in a bulk buy and now I have found that I need to go with 1/32 and 1/48 scale due to my eyes and hands not being as good as they used to be.  Heart problems and a couple of light strokes over the last couple of years. Guess I will try to trade them off.  Nice kits, just to darn small.  Needless to say, I have subscribed to Fine Scale Modeler magazine.  Great stuff.  Learning everyday.  I will probably be bugging you for suggestions on what I am doing wrong or how to do something.  I will post some pics of my work, but it will look very bad compared to what you guys do  Have fun.  Mike in Missouri.
