Hello, new guy here . . . .

Hello fellow lovers of plastic. I used to build lots of models as a teenager, mostly Star Wars stuff, and somehow let it fade away. But about a year ago the bug suddenly bit me and I got an old unbuilt kit (a T.I.E. Fighter) out of the closet and threw it together. It all came flooding back to me, the smells, the joy, the frustrations, that sense of accomplishment, and the pride that can only be felt when you stand back and look at something YOU created. Good stuff. I guess there's no turning back now. In this past year I've built a 1/32 scale JU 87b Stuka, a 1/32 scale Spitfire Mk IIb, a scratchbuilt-kitbashed creation I call the T.I.E. Rum Runner, and a conversion - kitbashed 1/32 scale dual .50 cal trailer mounted A/A gun. Not to mention numerous repairs and rebuilds of the old teen years stuff. I look forward to sharing some of my tricks and tips as well learning more of the art from some of you fine people. I've been admiring the work of some of you here and wow, have I got alot to learn. I'll be posting some pics soon so keep an eye out for me.

Bill.

In queue:  Tamiya 1/35 Quad Tractor or a scratch build project.

Welcome to the Forums and welcome back to the hobby. Hmmmmmmmmm!!!! Building 1/32 and from the number of kits you've built so far this year, I'd say you got it bad. My name is Jim, and I am a plasticaholic. I love the smell of plastic in the morning. I build whatever strikes my fancy at the time. It also looks like you enjoy what you're doing. That's the name of the game. When it stops being enjoyable, that's all she wrote. Looking forward to seeing your pics.

Welcome to the forums.

When I was younger, I believe I had the X-wing, and Darth Vader's tie fighter.  I have no idea where they are now...probably recycled.

Enjoy.

On the bench:  Tamyia Mosquito Mk. VI for the '44 group build.  Yes, still.

Eagle90, the TIE Fighter I built last year was from the AMT/Ertyl kit that comes with 2 TIEs (roughly 1/51scale) and the Death Star Surface mounting base. I built one of the TIEs as is, OOB, (more or less) and the other sacrificed itself for my TIE Rum Runner creation, which is pictured in my avatar image.

Ah the memories. I had em all G-J. No wait . . . still HAVE them  ...  the X-Wing, Darth's TIE, the Shuttle Tyderium, Speeder Bike, Slave 1, Oh and let's not forget, the Holy Grail of Sci Fi mods : the Millenium Falcon, . . . . . . all in various states of decay and disrepair. A few have faired well over the years and others I've restored and / or improved.  I've got to get some pics up for all to see and chuckle over.

Cool, that's the one I was thinking of getting.  Didn't know it has 2 TIE's in it until now.  Very cool.  All the models you mentioned you have I have sitting on the shelves too.  I'll put them together soon......really.....no really, stop laughing. Smile

One day, I'll get brave enough to show you guys what I did to my Stuka. It's an absolute crime against Stuka-kind. I worked so hard getting that thing to look the way I wanted and then  >>>>&*$#%@$&<<<<

One of these days.  Right now, I'm still in mourning . . . . . .

Maybe you can repent your sins by building 2 more. That might please the Stuka gods.
