I've been modeling since I was very young, in the late 1940's. i graduated from solid wood to balsa and finally plastic. I got away from modelling after getting married but one day I saw a Tamiya Tiger I in a hobby in the early seventies and that started me back modeling again, thank you Mr. Tamiya! I love all modeling but as a member of So Cal Amps i like armor the best. I enjoy Fine Scale and the great how to and video programs. Being a diesel mechanic for many years I like to find out and compare the running gear of competing country vehicles and how it affects battlefield performance.

Profdiesel its great to have you here. You started modelling in the 40's?? Thats truly awesome to have somebody here who has been doing this for that long! You need to hook up with Tigerman as he's running a Group Build right now involving...you guessed it......German armor. Good to have you here bud, Joe

Welcome aboard. The late 40's, well i think we have the winner for the award for the person who has been modelling the longest.

That's an interesting sideline hobby you have. There are quite a few armour vets on here. For my own sins i spent 12 years in a British Armoured Inf battalion and i worked on both Warriors and 432's. Could be some interesting discussions on the side.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

Welcome to the forums!

What a contrast this hobby must be from the 40s to now.

On the bench:  Tamyia Mosquito Mk. VI for the '44 group build.  Yes, still.

Welcome to the Forums Profdiesel. Glad to have you aboard. Also glad to have another builder from the '40s here. I started in the '40s also. My uncles kept me and my brother supplied with kits and supplies because my dad thought that it was a waste of time and money. This hobby sure has changed. Did you ever fly stick and microfilm. That was something else. Use to take them to the National Guard Armory to fly. Great times. If you have any questions/problems, just ask, and these guys, and gals, will either answer your question, solve your problem, or tell you where to get the answer. But, you have to post pics of your builds. Enjoy!
