Hello!

Hello everyone!

New here to the FSM forum, but not new to forums, or model building. Well, I take that back; I just started building models again after a 20 year layoff. During that time I thought motorcycle racing was a better hobby until I crashed and broke my wrist and collarbone. My wife ask me to pick a new hobby, and I figured I couldn't break many bones while building plastic models! I'm a big fan of 1/48 scale aircraft (both WWII and modern) and I've gotten the bug for 1/350 scale war ships. I just purchased a 1/350 Rudderow class DE from Iron Shipwrights, my first resin build. I'm intending to convert this DE to a Butler class DE in tribute to my late father who served 3 years on the USS Formoe DE-509.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to some practical advise from more experience builders. Once I have a few builds complete, I'll be sure to post some pictures.

Welcome! Many of us have returned to the hobby for various reasons.

If I may suggest, the best way to meet everyone on here and get some great tips, is to join a Group Build. Just go to the Group Build section of the forums and find one that suits you fancy, as we have several good ones going on right now. Also, Bish has made a very excellent post there about how Group Builds work.

Look forward to seeing you arounf the forum!

Accidentally self-inflicted #11 blade punctures are a lot easier to shake than broken bones. Welcome to the funhouse, Bruce, glad to have you with us. Lots of practical advice to be found here, and we love pictures. Looking forward to seeing some of your work, and "hearing" your voice in the discussions.

Welcome to the FSM forum Bruce! I too have gotten back into the hobby after some years of absence. For years I owned and built muscle cars and it costs a ton of money. Even with as expensive as this hobby can get its still cheaper than building cars! Welcome back buddy. (no broken bones here....maybe a cut or so but no bones breakin)

Welcome ! the only broken bones around my place ( that are hobby related ) are the ones my cats get when they get into the spray booth !

But at the moment my shop is incomplete. So the cats are safe...... for now.

Dont worry about the thumbprint, paint it Rust , and call it "Battle Damage"
