Let Me Introduce Myself
Posted by cvsaylr on Friday, September 6, 2013 12:59 PM

Hello! My name is Dave and I am new to this forum. I'm an old guy (62) and have been building models since I was about 8 or 9 years old. I usually work on aircraft models but have been known to build a few ships and now and then a car. I retired from the navy several years ago but while I was on active duty I spent most of my waking hours in the paint and finish shop (otherwise known as Corrosion Control) in both F-14 and A-6 squadrons, as well as some time in aircraft carrier aviation metal shops (AIMD). Should anyone need to know where the wear and tear areas are on F-14 or A-6 aircraft I should be able to help, although I will need help myself in applying "worn" finishes. So that's why I'm here, to get the help I need and offer "technical" advice where I can.

Welcome to the forum Dave!

The topic of "wear-n-tear" on Navy aircraft is a common subject here and your expertise will be most welcome.  Sure can't wait to see some of your builds so post pictures whenever you get a moment.

Welcome Dave, and thank you very much for serving.

You have a definite edge, you know what stuff is 'supposed' to look like, something I mostly don't. :)

Hi Dave! Welcome to the Forums! Glad to have another "old guy" here to help keep these young whippersnappers in line. Thank you for your service. I'm (72) and have been building since I was (6). I build whatever strikes my fancy at the time. The guys in the aircraft forum will be happy to have you around to help them weather their planes. Enjoy.
