Welcome, Ray! I was in much the same boat as you this past Christmas, when an old buddy sent me a model of a ship we had served on in the Marines. I hadn't done a model since the late ‘80s. But I gave it a try, and now, just a few months later, I have a huge collection of supplies, I’m working on graduating from rattle cans to my new airbrush, learning how to build dioramas, and stockpiling models I know I won’t get to for years. So be warned – building models as an adult in the Internet age is a whole different experience… and you will love it!

Welcome Ray

No disassemble. No dumb question.

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

A beginning is a very delicate time. Know then that it is the year 2014. The Known Universe is ruled by Matthew Usher. In this time, the most precious substance in the universe is polystyrene plastic. Glue extends plastic. The plastic expands consciousness. The plastic is vital to modelers. The Fine Model Builder Guild and its wonderful lunatics in FSM, who the plastic has mutated over 78 years, which gives them the ability to fold photoetched-metal. That is, cyanoacrylate sticks to any part without moving. Plastic must flow!!!

Hi,

My name is Ray and I'm from the Land of Enchantment, New Mexico. I've just recently taken up model building again after a 35 year hiatus. Did the Navy/Education/Family thing and now I have the time to devote to models. I'm sure you've heard this story before but the hobby has really come along way since I built my last model in late 70's. No one had even heard of an airbrush in those days. I hope to learn a lot on this forum and I hope to do this without asking to many dumb questions.

Ray
