Welcome to the [insert big deep bass voice from the ceiling] 'Wide World of Modeling

For a first time model yours looks just fine and your " build like you like it to be" philosophy , will drive some folks mad; BUT it is your model, so you are right.  by golly!

Just remember the most important rule is; you have to complete every model kit you have before you can start another.  This way you could be the first modeler in the history of modeling to do that- ----NAH ! forget that; none of us follow that rule either.

Again Welcome

Steve

Welcome to the Forums! Glad to have you aboard!

You are now also a member of Plasticaholics Anonymous. There is no known cure. Just sit back and enjoy building. The name of the game is to build what pleases you. I've been building for 67 of my 73 years and have a stash that will take me at least 200 years at the rate that I build. I'm really looking forward to building full time when I get to the Great Workbench In The Sky.

Thanks everyone!  Now that my first one is complete, I'm even more excited for future builds.  The best thing is when she needs something picked up at the craft store, I gladly go now too.  I already bought my next two kits.

I use to live in "the rubber capital of the world" but I have moved far away to be closer to my fiancee.

Good job and glad you chimed in.  Look out though,  this hobby is addictive.  Soon you'll have more kits than you can build, and no place to put them.

Look forward to see more builds from you.

Steve

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Brand new to scale modeling
Posted by bobafetthugsme on Friday, August 22, 2014 2:14 PM

Hi All,

I am brand new to the wonderful world of scale modeling.  I have accompanied my Fiancee  too many times to the local craft stores and finally convinced myself to take the plunge into a crafty type of hobby myself.  I LOVE military aircraft (perhaps a by-product of growing up a few short hours away from the National US Air Force Museum) especially WWII aircraft.  I saw plenty of different kits at the store and that's what I settled on.

I found this very helpful forum, joined but haven't said anything till now; and now that my very first model is complete, I wtanted to introduce myself and show everyone the results of my very first model build using tips I found on here.

I didn't really go for the realistic look, I mixed decal setups didn't use the exact paint schemes but I'm happy with the end results and I got to use a bit of creativity and lots of relaxation.
