My Introduction
Posted by Radial9 on Friday, January 9, 2015 12:17 PM

I bought my grandson a Revell 1/48 A-10 Warthog a few months ago to put under the Christmas tree. Dozens of hours on You-Tube, hours and hours of online hobby sites, a Paasche Model H, a few hundred bucks of “gotta have” tools, a spray booth, a $50 copy of Rand McNally Encyclopedia of WW2 aircraft, six new models in the “stash” later I thought I might join the forum to pull my rear end out of the trouble “grandpa” is going to get himself into.

I’ve been a fly tier for 25 years so I think I see the hole I’m starting to fall into.

I’m a pilot, now plane-less and not current. I have been flying virtual C47’s multiplayer online with the greatest bunch of retired combat and civilian pilots you will ever meet the past ten years at DC3 Airways. Remember: The only replacement for a DC3 is another DC3!

I live and now model in south Florida. Not quit retired, but close. I look forward to making new friends and learning how to be the “best grandpa ever”.

Cheers,

Radial9

Welcome Radial  Welcome Sign. Glad to have you onboard.

Yep, your slipping into the hole like. like an ant into the ant lion hole. Oh well, can't do anything about it now, so just sit back and enjoy the ride Beer

By the sound of your "gotta have" list, your into WW 2 aircraft. Your in good company.

The guys/gals here are top notch.

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Welcome aboard. There are plenty down in that hole, so don't worry, you won't be lonely.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

Welcome to the Forums Radial9!  Glad to have you aboard!

I've been building for 68 of my 74 years and have at least 200 kits in my "stash".  That's enough to keep me building for the next 200 years.  If I don't finish them, I'm working on the grandkids to finish for me.  You've got plenty of company in that hole.  Don't forget to post pics of your builds.  Enjoy.

Welcome to the forums!  The C-47 is my favorite kit to build!  My grandfather was a radio operator on them during WWII.  Glad to have you on board!

Welcome to the group Radial!  I know exactly what you mean about falling into the hole, be warned, the hole only gets deeper!  You'll end up saying things like, "Oh, I want that kit, OH, I better get me some of that too..."  Just know that you are in good company here!

On the Bench:  Lots of unfinished projects!  Smile

To the hobby and the forum.

You'll find this hobby,  is very inexpensive   'cause the fun, sharing, help, and encouragement  from the forum members and building models is worth  more than the $$ spent.
