10 months of a new hobby
Posted by VillageBob on Thursday, February 12, 2015 2:28 PM

Started building models last April just to see if I liked it,since then have built 11 models and building my 12th now. Building military kits planes, tanks, jeep and at present a 2  1/2 ton military cargo truck from Tamiya I like there products including paints using other products also. I didn't know the size of the industry until I started building models.

I went to my first show in Orlando FL called Modelpolozza WOW what great models on display of course I bought a couple of kits a Willys Jeep and a Bradley M2 fun builds.

And I started all this at age 71 now 72 between building models and golf here in Florida it keeps me busy.

By the way I feel for the people in the north eastern part of the country you people are having a bad winter I lived in NJ 14 years ago and know what winter in the north can be Brrrrrrrrr!!!!

Just saying to all model builders

Well welcome to the forums Bob!  I was born and raised in Tampa!  Joined the Air Force and went all over the world.  Settled in Vermont!  Yeah, it's a bit chilly up here!  Wink  Glad to have you on the forums!  Be sure to post some pics of your builds!

Welcome Bob  Welcome Sign

Better late than never to enjoy a fantastic hobby. Wow, you really jumped in with both feet. Post some pics of your builds, we'd like to see some.

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Hi Bob and welcome to the forum!

Today's high temperature in tropical Green Bay, WI is supposed to be around 5 degrees with wind chills well below zero.  I cannot begin to tell you how much I envy you being in Florida right now.  Ha-ha-ha!

As Steve mentioned above, it's better late than never to get into this fine hobby.  Eventually you'll start to wonder why you've been wasting your time with golf when you could have been building models instead.

Just kidding!

Welcome to the Forums Bob!  Glad to have you aboard!

I started building at 6 and now at 74 I am still building.  They say it's an addiction that you never get rid of.  I believe it.  I can't think of anything I'd rather be doing.  I build whatever strikes my fancy at the time.  Don't forget to post photos of your builds.
