I lived in Bryan/CS when I was a kid, moved away in '82, but I remember the death burger fondly. Took my wife through there about 10 years ago. Need to make another stop some day. I have family in Dallas and Houston and a few stops in between; I always talk about stopping there to eat, but time is always not on my side for that side trip.

The AF brought me to MO (and a couple other places) and upon retirement, we settled here. So, enjoying another death burger would require about a 13hr drive....bummer.

Yes, very familiar with the old Chicken Oil Company. Hmmm, it would take a bit more than an hour driving time to get there tonight ....

I was actually loathe to embrace the Johnny era since I really didn't like his demeanor early on.  It was a miraculous finish against Ole Miss in Oxford when I first started to like the kid, and then the 3-game road trip where the Ags defeated Auburn, Mississippi State and most unexpectedly Alabama had me convinced the kid was a winner despite all his antics.  Loved how the Ags destroyed OU in the Cotton Bowl.  His second season was a bit less impressive even though his numbers were better. It was certainly an exciting two years but I am left with a huge 'what if?' - if the Ags just hold on against Florida or LSU and the rest of the season plays out how it did, I have no doubt the Ags take out Georgia for the SEC title and absolutely crush Notre Dame for the national championship. Great but ultimately frustrating 2 years.

Welcome back.  Was a Texan myself for one year; lived in Tyler (Smith County), and I well remember the "discussions" about Aggies and Longhorns.

Welcome back Tex, err Steven,

Well, well, another Texican, how about that. My brother is an Aggie grad (83), and I graduated from TSTC in Waco as an Aircraft Mechanic, although that's not what I'm doing now.
I grew up in Dallas, graduated high school in Austin (79), attended tech school in Waco and worked as an Aircraft Mechanic in Houston, Addison and Denton so I'm sure I've walked on some of the same pavement as you.
Well this is soposed to be about you, so again

Welcome back  WowYeahPropellerWelcome Sign

i am actually here to re-introduce myself, as I have posted to these forums for several years before I took a self-imposed moratorium. I am a native Texan who has never lived anywhere else. I have 2 kids, a boy and a girl who are separated by 14 years. I am married to the best gal one could hope to spend his life with (ie, she tolerates my interests of modeling and college football). I am a Texas Aggie, Class of 1989, and my son has just graduated from there as well. I am a software engineer by trade with expertise in SQL Server, the Visual Studio line of development products and Delphi. I love big action movies or sci-fi/fantasy stuff ... Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Captain America and the other Avengers, Alien... We are certified Disney World nuts. We went in 2000, then again in 2011 and a surprise trip for our daughter in 2013, with plans to go again in a couple of years. And of course, as an Aggie, I am particularly interested in the athletic programs at Texas A&M University, mostly football. Love the move to the SEC. I have always been fascinated with WWII, most particularly aviation. I built my first model, a Monogram P-40, when I was 3. I built all of Monogram's kits and most of Revell's kits when I was growing up. Then Star Wars came out and I turned my attention to those MPC kits of X-Wings and Darth Vader's TIE Fighter. Then I got to high school, where girls and baseball took all my attention. That of course continued through A&M, so I was on hiatus from the hobby for at least a decade ( although it was not a total blackout as I built a few models during those years, most notably the big Revell 1/32 Tomcat the summer that Top Gun came out, and a big-scale F-117 by Testors when the first Gulf War started. The modeling bug never left me, so after my son was born I remember going through a K-Mart and seeing a plane I had never built, a Revell Beaufighter in 1/32. I grabbed that kit, along with a bunch of others and started building again. Over the years I picked up lots of tips and tricks from reading FSM, so I thank everyone here who has helped me produce what one friend of mine has said are "museum quality" models (her words, not mine).
