Re-entering the hobby after years away. I loved to build models as a kid/teenager and have done a few as an adult. Each one has included new techniques I have learned largely from back issues of FineScale Modeler ,to which I recently ordered a subsciption.
My favorite subjects are 1:48 scale WWII aircraft. I prefer older aircraft because I think they're more beautiful - between WWII and the Korean War or so.
However, I am working on a project and could use some guidance. I am building an Eduard 1:48 scale Israeli Mirage III CJ for my friend's father, who served in the Israeli Air Force between 1963 and the Six Days War. I recently learned that the Mirages prior to '67 were not painted in the camouflage pattern shown on my kit's box, but in bare metal. My problem is, I can't find the decals for this scheme.
I checked w/ Eduard, but they don't have them available. Does anybody know where I can find the (primarily red) decals for the bare metal Mirage III? I guess decals for any other manufacturer's kit would work, too, right?
I am going to search the forums to try to see if anybody has addressed how to mask an open cavity like an air intake.
Thanks in advance for your advice!
