Welcome to the site. While most model builders do seem to be in the 40's range and older, there are some younger ones. Like many things, modelling has lost out to computer games, social media and the like. And kids tend to wnat everything now rather than have the patience to build it.

But, it may well be older builders may want to buy what you have to sell. But be careful as this site has strict rules on selling, not that i am suggesting you are trying to sell them here. You might want to try and auction site, at least that way you can ensure they only sell if the price is right.

For what it's worth I'm 28 and love this hobby! Hope I'm not in too much of a minority:) And if I am...won't make a difference, I'm still going to love it!

Welcome to the Forum. A desirable kit that is currently out of production can be in quite a bit of demand, and might bring in an acceptable sum. You could do some research on a site like e-bay; see if anyone is selling what you have, and get an idea what things are going for. Hope you are successful!

I'm sorry about your husband. It must be hard on him, and you, to see that he just can't work on his hobby like he used to. There are many members here who have similar numbers in their stash.
Like was said earlier, take a look at sites like eBay and see what those same kits are going for and try to sell them that way. 
As far as what your son says, yes, for the most part the younger population just isn't as active in the hobby as the older. There are several reasons for this. Also as was stated earlier, social media, computer games etc. are a major culprit, but also this world just has everything ready to go for you, not assembly required. Like Bish said, most of the young just don't have the patience.
There does seem to be some people who have returned to the fold, if you will. They started modeling when young, life got in the way, and came back because they were missing something.

Hi Cassie!  Welcome to the Forums!  Glad to have you aboard!

I guess I'm one of those exceptions to the rule.  I started building at 6 years old and I'm still building at 74.  I've got poor eyesight and very bad hands so my building has slowed down quite a bit but I keep on learning and building as best I can.  The members above have given you the right way to check on the worth of those kits.  If you keep painting, you might end up building those extra kits yourself.  Good luck.

Hi cassie if you have an idea what they are worth (my daughter gave me this tip) put them for sale on Facebook (No fees like evilbay)  and a bigger audience.

Gotta agree with Kpnuts.  I'm a member of a couple of groups on Facebook where all we do is buy, sell and trade kits.  Like the wonderful members here on this Fine Scale Modeller chat forum, you'll find the people on those auction sites are equally good people from all over the world.  I've seen instances where someone is in need of selling their unbuilt kits due to some sort of emergency and boy do those members really snap into action!  I've seen the members not only purchase the kits, but also kick in additional money just to help the person out.

If you go on Facebook, do a search for something like "model kit auction".  You'll find lots of auction groups that cater to anything and everything:  Aircraft, World War 2 aircraft, jets, armor, cars, ships, you name it.

i built and p;lyed wargames as a kid through being stationed in Germany in the 70s, got into computer wargames, switched careers to graphic design and did that and 3D for 22 years and got back model building in 2004 when i needed to build things with my hands and not a mouse.

a quick way to get a "list" out there is to post a couple of pics. (not here they have rules on selling). a lot of folks in my area will announce a stash sale and attach a couple of pics of shelves of kits. most modelers can get an idea from that and contact you with specific questions.

as for pricing, my rule of thumb is half of whatever squadrononline.com is selling it for. it's a place to start instead of some of the ridiculous price swings seen on evilbay.
