New to the Forum

Hi,

I am new to the forum and I hoping to find some answers. My late husband the avid model builder although I built a few simple ones. I now have 22 model kits that were openned, looked at set aside for later building. I discovered a few with FSM magazines in them because there articles about building that particular model! There are also 6 models that he started but put aside to finish later.

Is there a place to sell these models to other than E-Bay? Are there some deserving groups that could use them. Most of them are ships and a few are large (USS Missouri BB-63 1/200 scale) for example. Most are plastic models but there a couple wood ones.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

There may be an IPMS (International Plastic Modelers Society) club in your area whose members may want to purchase them. Also, in the back of the FSM magazine, there are sometimes classifieds pertaining to kit purchases. Some forum members have made a list and asked if anyone on here wants to purchase some of their extra kits. They contact you separately, usually by the IM option and make arrangements that way. I wouldn't mind seeing a list of what he had myself.

Welcome cmwags and I, too, am sorry for your loss.

If you're looking to donate the kits, see if there's a local VA in your area.  Some will happily take the kits to distribute.  Same with your local VFW.  I haven't donated yet but I think in the next month or two I'll be taking a trip down the road to my local VFW to see if they'd like some of my completed kits to either display or hand out.

I've also seen where people donate them to local Boy Scout troops.  I think I remember another one who built some for their local high school history teachers.  There are so many possibilities!

I hoped this has helped,

Eric
