Hello the forum
Posted by suomi39 on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 8:10 PM

Hi all. Been lurking for a while, collecting a stash and supplies, and am getting back into the hobby after a decade and a half or so. Been soaking up knowledge from these pages like crazy. Wow, the internet sure changes the learning curve! Learned more in a couple days of reading here than five years of pre-internet self-teaching.

Seems like a real nice bunch here -- I hope to stick around for a while. Prepping for my first WIP post: an old PM Models 1/72 Fokker D.XXI -- in Finnish colors, of course. Wink

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Welcome, good to have another member. You're right, the 'net has changed to hobby world, and for the better I think.

I like 1:72 myself, kind of the old world way, my fumbly aged fingers present a bigger challenge in that scale, but what fun it is.

Best regards

Patrick

Hi Trabi! Great job on that DXXI and pilot! I'm going to have to take a close look at those photos. I see you built 1Lt Sarvanto's FR-97 - "ace in a day". Due to the decals that come with the PM kit I'm doing Nissenen's FR-98.  Mine will require some significant mods to get to the accuracy level of yours. But I'm working on it...

Wish I could read your other comments wihtout Google Translate. Stick out tongue I'm an American with Finnish immigrant great-grandparents. Think of me as a Finn-o-phile (my wife is a Finlander too) and I spent college studying Talvisota and Continuation war. Never been able to pick up much of the language though. Tongue Tied

Ha! You got me! Big Smile Your nickname mislead me. Toast

If you need help with Finnish Air Force planes, please don´t hesitate to ask. I´m not expert with them, but I have several fellow modelers who are. And also I know few people from local aviation museums who can help. As you propably guessed they are modelers too.
