I want to thank everybody for the warm welcome, and to let you know that I did indeed start a thread in the Scratchbuilding Forum. No luck so far, but I'm still making inquiries anywhere and everywhere.

Hi;

    You are going to think I am nuts . Is your model plastic ? And what scale is it ? If so try to find some  "H.O. "( 1/87 ) or " N " ( 1/160 ) scale model railroad carnival rides .They are full of what you need and my gosh they are small . Tanker - Builder

Welcome to the Forums Steve!  Glad to have you aboard!

As others have said, the Scratchbuilding Forum would be the place to check for help.

There are a few ready built RC gears kicking about, but they all look to large for what you need..... I think you would be able to make something relatively easily by using some small bevel gear & again the RC arena is where you will most probably find this (a repair / rebuild kit of some sort possibly).

Welcome to the forums Steve Welcome Sign.

Wow, that is a little over my head. Perhaps someone in the Scratchbuilding are can help. I know of a few guys that are really into super detailing like that.

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

First, a quick introduction. I'm Steve Bradfield, of Salt Lake City, Utah, USA. I've been building models for almost 60 years. I mostly build for wargaming these days, though I try to keep a high standard. I do have one model in a museum. Our local Air Force Base is named for Major Ployer P. Hill, who died testing the original prototype B-17 in 1935. Back in 1990 I built a model of the Boeing 299 for the base's 40th anniversary, and it resides there still.

To my problem: I'm currently scratchbuilding a 1/72 scale model of the Siemens-Schuckert E.1 from 1916. The Siemens-Halske U.1 engine was unique in that to overcome the torque problems inherent in rotary engines they made the engine and prop turn in opposite directions. I'm trying to duplicate that, and I need to find or make a gearbox that will accomplish that in a space only 15mm wide and the same deep. I'm not good with soldering, so finding one would be best.

I'm hoping someone has a little knowledge about this.
