Hey all

Thought i would introduce myself

Im Andy from Chester UK, Civil Engineer just rediscovering this hobby.

So far im a noob... just learning the ropes so to say and onto my third model at the moment...

will post some pics when i can but have learned a lot since my first attempt with a Tamiya M1A2 Abrams, then an italeri M24 Chaffee and in the middle of the Tamiya Mk5 Chieftan.

My models are not painted as totally reilistic as i have hand painted 2 so far as i try and perfect my technique. Made a few mistakes on the way but that how you learn right!

not got the hang of weathering yet.

building up my equipment and got a dremmel for xmas that has also helped be damage the chieftan, and over sanded a small section, so wont be using it to sand with..... for a while.

and about to buy an air brush because im fed up of pulling hairs off the models when painting with brushes. and making the mistake of priming the model on the sprues before gluing it together... wont do that again either...

but looking forward to chatting and learning with others with a similar interest.

Thinking of a Tiger next or king tiger, M2 Bradley and T-90 ( possibly Meng)

so if you have any reccomendations for those kits i would love to hear your views.

Thanks for reading my post.

Hi Andy, welcome, Welcome Sign
Don’t worry too much with not getting your weathering technique down yet, you’re on your 3rd kit. I have been building for 50 years and still haven’t gotten the weathering down yet LOL. Just relax and enjoy your new hobby. If you ask questions and work with the guys on the forum, you will get better, I promise.

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Welcome to the forums Andy. Oh don't you worry none. Like any addiction the styrene desease is progressive. You start out with a kit or two and some glue, paint and brushes. Then along comes the airbrush, Dremel, more paint and tools and of course a few dozen more kits. Gradually more kits, a sizeable reference library, long nights on the forum and this growing need for a larger man cave. Next thing you know your throwing out your wives shoes in order to make room in her walk in closet for more of your kits and the extra bedroom is filled with display cabinets. But,...I'd know little about that myself.Whistling

ENJOY! Joe
