Hi, I'm Neil, been an FSM subscriber since 1999 and returned to plastic scale modeling at that time after a long interlude (15+ years). The internet was still pretty new in '99 and I don't think this forum then existed. I was perfectly content with my print FSM copies but just recently realized I wasn't taking sufficient advantage of the FSM website - and I discovered it had a forum! Well, better late than never...
I would classify myself as a casual modeler, only complete a few kits per year (and usually DON'T complete a few others, think you know what I mean). Almost strictly 1/72 aircraft, mostly WW2 era, mostly Allied (because the Axis paint schemes can be tough). I've always read FSM thoroughly though, and really enjoy gawking at the work of very accomplished modelers. (Also used to collect the UK mags SAM and SAMI, and even the occasional Wingmasters from France, until I ran out of space to store the back issues.)
I'm trying to spend more time building, and looking forward to checking this forum for tips and news. My other hobbies include playing wargames solitaire (PC and boardgames both), as well as reading military history. But all that comes after family, I have a one year-old and three year-old who keep me very busy... so one hobby I no longer can cultivate is sleeping!
Cheers,
Neil
P.S. My avatar is the patch for Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron 12, the "Bats", in which my late father served in the 1950s, mostly on USS Essex. Not a modeler himself, but he always encouraged my hobby and I miss him!
